Ryan Jackson
Ryan Jackson has been a staff multimedia photojournalist
at the
Edmonton Journal
since 2007, allowing him to
tell stories of people all over Alberta and the world. He
grew up in Saskatoon with parents who were raised on
farms in Saskatchewan. His passion is creating unique
portraits of interesting people and telling their story.
Sharon McKinnon
Sharon McKinnon is the policy program co-ordinator
for the Crop Sector Working Group, a partnership of
Alberta crop commissions that addresses environmental
and sustainability issues for the crop sector in Alberta.
Sharon has a B.Sc. in agriculture and a M.Sc. in resource
economics from the University of Alberta.
Karin Olafson
Karin Olafson is a Calgary-based writer and editor.
She recently returned to Calgary after more than two
decades away, which she spent mostly in Singapore and
Vancouver. Outside of office hours, she writes about
sustainable transportation, health and science.
Clare Stanfield
Clare Stanfield has been kicking around the ag business
for over 20 years, first in ad agencies and, for the last
decade, as a freelance writer. She loves it. An avid cook,
when not writing about how food is produced, she is
often found producing food of her own.
Benjamin Allen
Benjamin Allen is the chief revenue officer for Agri-Data, a
leader in farmmanagement software. Agri-Data software
helps thousands of farms manage millions of acres of
production throughout North America, with tools for crop
planning, agronomy, weather, input tracking, inventory
management, crop marketing and profitability tracking.
Alexis Kienlen
Alexis Kienlen lives in Edmonton, where she works as a
reporter for
Alberta Farmer Express
newspaper. She’s
written two books of poetry and a biography of Sikh civil
rights activist Gurcharan Singh Bhatia. Her poetry, fic-
tion and journalism pieces have appeared in numerous
publications across Canada.
